Chartered in 2001, the San Francisco NABA (National Adult Baseball Association) is one of the fastest growing leagues on the west coast. Founded by Ken Hale the league affords adults a comfortable and competitive opportunity to play real baseball within the City of San Francisco and the Surrounding Bay Area.

The league began its modest existence with simple e-mail to then Director of Development Lou Palmer. "I had moved to San Francisco almost a year earlier and was hungry to play the game I love again. Alas, there was nowhere to play! So, with that I contacted the NABA, I set out to bring an adult baseball league to San Francisco." said President Ken Hale on the creation of the SFNABA.

The inaugural season proved to be very challenging. Unable to find teams the league relied on posting ads on a local community forum craigslist.org. Soon after, requests for information began pouring in. The league officially began play on July 28, 2001 with 5 teams (Giants, Fog, Naturals, Red Sox, and the A's). Playing a shot 13 game season the league made it's presence known and inquiries from other leagues quickly rose forming friendly rivalries between teams that would otherwise never played each other.

2002 brought these teams together as the league expanded to 8 teams. This season also saw its first league All-Star game in which the Eastern Division beat the Western Division 4-3 and the first playoffs, which crowned the A's as Champion.

2003 saw more growth, with 12 teams participating in the league and expanding to suburbs of San Francisco.  This increased the talent on the field and of the fields themselves.  The league grew to 14 teams in 2004.

In 2005, 20 teams participated in a wonderfully challenging season. Several new teams were very successful in their inagural season and two of them made it to the playoffs!

2006 and 2007 were great years of growth in terms of talent and the league's marketshare in the Bay Area. More fields and greater exposure brought in talent from around the entire Bay Area and solidified the league's strength in balancing competitiveness and fun baseball.

The SFNABA has proven it has the premier wood-bat baseball league in the Bay Area over the years and will continue to thrive with the help and loyalty of it's players and their families.
